Hello!
My name is Carmel Mercado. I am a fellowship-trained pediatric eye surgeon who sees patients in the Seattle area. I see children for a wide variety of eye conditions, including for glasses, 'lazy eye' treatment, blocked tear ducts, and cataract surgery. Through my experiences in the clinic as both a provider and a patient, I learned how challenging it can be to find comprehensive, reliable, easy-to-understand information about various eye conditions without the scary eye images and medical jargon that come up on web searches. My intent with this blog is to provide information about your eyes in a more light-hearted, family-friendly manner with drawings. Illustrations on this site are originals that were created by me and inspired by my very sassy dog, Julie.
